What are the PC & Software Requirements for a Logojet Printer?
Windows XP
operating system with Service Pack 2 installed. Two available USB ports.
1 port for Logojet printer, 1 port for lock key. Minimum 512 MB of system
memory
(1GB preferred). The LogoJet Express software included with the machine
is ideal for most requirements but we would recommend purchasing additional
software packages
e.g. Photoshop for image editing & Corel Draw for advanced layout
when using the adjustable
flat bed lift. We have also successfully tested the machines on Windows
Vista 32-bit Operating Systems.
Do
I have to use Logojet every day?
It is recommended
to use the machine every day. The printer is automatically
configured to perform a head clean
every day but in addition we recommend that if you are not
using the printer on a daily basis, on the 3rd day of not using the
printer do a head clean and
check that the waste bottle is collecting ink during the head clean.
For breaks of 4 or more days the head should be cleaned with 70% alcohol
and the cleaner
unit & pipes flushed with alcohol. Please Note:
70% strength MAXIMUM.
How
many printers can connect to a single PC?
Up to 3 printers
can connect to ONE PC with only 1 lock key.
How many golf
balls can I print per job?
16 golf balls
can print at one time and 16 different images/logos can be used simultaneously.
If you want to print less than 16 golf balls per run, LogoJet can print
as little as one single golf ball.
Does the image wear
?
Yes, the image
does wear eventually. Traditional pad printing methods usually produce
better durability but often require large minimum quantities, origination
costs and longer lead times.
We are happy to provide samples for you to test.
How
long does it take to print 16 golf balls?
Print duration
depends on the logo type or image being printed. For simple logos and
text on
the desktop COMBO or 5600R machines the printing time is up to 3 minutes
for 16 balls. For
photo image printing allow up to 5 minutes.
What image files does
LogoExpress® support?
The LogoExpress
program supports many different types of high resolution file types.
For example use Photoshop to edit and create images then export as tif,
bmp or jpg file
extensions, then import your finished photos, logos or texts into the
easy to use LogoJet Express Software. For best results import at a minimum
of 600 x 600 pixels.
What
else do I need to print the golf balls?
You will require
a can of pre-spray for the oil based inks to print properly onto
the golf ball and a can of coating spray for protecting the printed
images. Fixative sprays come
in aerosol based cans and are considered hazardous items for transporting
(class2:1950).
Note: Some products may not require the coating spray and some products
may not require
either spray.
What are the production
costs?
The pre-fix and coating sprays will spray up to 1000
balls depending on the amount used,
the cost of spraying will vary from between 2p to 3p per ball.
Ink cost without excessive cleaning should be less than 2p per golf
ball. Cleaner units will
require replacement every few months and print heads will require replacement
from time to
time depending on the level of maintenance performed & volumes produced.
Total cost per ball should be around 4p to 5p each for full colour
images and less for text.
Can
I use other inks or sprays with my Logojet?
The type of
ink that the Logojet machine uses is a blended oil-based mixture customized
only
for use on the Logojet machine and in conjunction with the fixative
sprays. Although there are
other sprays on the market, LogoJet sprays are recommended.
What
kind of alcohol is recommended?
During longer
periods of inactivity
the many tiny holes that make up the inkjet printer's head can
become clogged with dried ink. You can access the head cleaning cycle
via the LogoExpress® maintenance tab or you can hold down for 5
seconds the ink cleaning button on the far left of the printer. A number
of these cleanings, in succession, will usually take care of a clogged
head.
We also recommend regularly flushing the cleaning pipes using 70% isopropyl
alcohol.
What
kind of balls can the LogoJet machine print ?
The current
LogoJet machine is designed for printing on all brands of golf balls.
Other than black coloured golf balls we have not yet found a brand of
golf ball that does not provide good results. Harder balls produce fractionally
better results.
What
are the warranty conditions?
The printer
comes with a one year 'return to base' parts and labour warranty (note:
cleaner
units & print heads have a two months warranty). We offer a trade
printing service that you can
use if your machine has to be returned for any significant repair. You
must use authorised inks and perform regular maintenance. It is your
responsibility and cost to return the machine to us for repair. Providing
the machine has been maintained & used correctly we will repair
the machine
and return it to you at our cost.
How
much does it cost to replace a Print Head?
Replacement of
a Print Head (desktop COMBO or 5600R Machine) outside the
warranty period will
incur a repair cost of £35 plus parts.
You are welcome to attend this repair procedure should you wish to replace
heads yourself in the future.
Why
do I see a double image when I print?
Check that
you do not have high speed printing selected under the advanced settings
of the
printer preferences.
Why
is the ink running on printed jobs?
Check you
have sprayed the balls with the pre-fix spray correctly and wait at
least 2 minutes before printing. Check that there is no blockage of
ink in the waste pipes or dried ink on the print head. Perform a head
clean.
Why
is the image blurred at the edges?
If
your image is square in shape you will get a small amount of blurring
near the corners if
you exceed or get close to the 22mm x 22mm maximum size. We recommend
keeping
square designs slightly smaller by using the image reduction feature
within the software. Also
check you are spraying from at least 200mm above the tray of printed
balls.
Why is the shape
slightly distorted at the edges?
If your image
is square in shape and as large as permissible then you will get a small
amount of distortion near the edges. Good design will eliminate this,
you could also use a
package like photoshop CS to compensate the distortion.
What other products
can I print on?
It's down to testing each individual product. You can
print directly from most software
programs such as Corel Draw and print in full colour up to a maximum
area on the desktop
COMBO & 5600R of 180mm x 180mm or 300mm x 600mm on the PRO. You
will need an
adjustable lift for the desktop COMBO or 5600R machine to set the machine
to the height of the products you plan to print. We have had success
on most metal & plastic products
that we have tested. We have jigs available for small pencils, business
cards,
ball markers and casino chips & are able to produce jigs for printing
on most other products
that will fit within the machine.
